INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

GENERAL INFORMATION

The Journal of Advanced Nursing Research and Practice (JANRP) is a peer-reviewed, open-access online journal published by the College of Nursing, G.S.V.M. Medical College Campus, Kanpur. The journal aims to promote excellence in nursing education, clinical practice, and research by providing a platform for dissemination of high-quality scholarly work.

Authors are advised to carefully read these instructions before submission. Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal guidelines may be returned without peer review.

PUBLICATION ETHICS

JANRP adheres to internationally recognized ethical standards and best practices in scholarly publishing, including recommendations by:

  • Committee on Publication Ethics
  • International Committee of Medical Journal Editors

Ethical Requirements

  • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere
  • Simultaneous submission to other journals is strictly prohibited
  • Plagiarism, data fabrication, and falsification are unacceptable
  • Studies involving human or animal subjects must have prior ethical approval
  • Informed consent must be obtained where applicable
  • All conflicts of interest must be disclosed

Any breach of publication ethics may result in rejection, retraction, or further action as per journal policy.

GENERATIVE AI POLICY

  • Use of AI-assisted tools (e.g., grammar tools, writing assistants) must be clearly disclosed in the manuscript
  • AI tools cannot be listed as authors
  • Authors are fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of the content

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPTS

  1. Original Research Articles
  • Word limit: 2500–3000 words
  • Structured abstract (max 250 words)
  • Sections: Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion
  1. Review Articles
  • Word limit: 2000–2500 words
  • Structured abstract
  • Should be comprehensive, evidence-based, and recent
  1. Systematic Reviews / Meta-analysis
  • Must follow standard reporting guidelines (e.g., PRISMA)
  • Structured abstract
  • Critical and methodologically sound
  1. Case Reports / Case Studies
  • Word limit: 1500–2000 words
  • Should present unique, rare, or clinically significant cases
  1. Short Communications
  • Word limit: 1000–1500 words
  • Brief reports of significant findings
  1. Letter to the Editor
  • Concise comments, observations, or critique

Formatting

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Size: 12
  • Line spacing: 1.5
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
  • Language: English

STRUCTURE OF MANUSCRIPT

  1. Title Page
  • Title (clear and informative)
  • Author names and institutional affiliations
  • Corresponding author details (email & contact)
  • Word count
  • Funding/support details (if any)
  1. Abstract
  • Structured (maximum 250 words)
  • Headings: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion
  • Keywords: 3–5 (alphabetically arranged)
  1. Main Text (IMRAD Format)

Introduction

  • Background and rationale
  • Objectives of the study

Methods

  • Study design
  • Sampling technique and sample size
  • Data collection tools/procedures
  • Ethical approval details
  • Statistical analysis

Results

  • Clear presentation of findings
  • Avoid duplication of tables/figures in text

Discussion

  • Interpretation of results
  • Comparison with existing literature
  • Strengths and limitations

Conclusion

  • Key findings and implications
  1. Ethical Considerations
  • Ethical approval details must be clearly mentioned
  • Consent procedures must be described
  1. References
  • Vancouver or APA style
  • Numbered sequentially (for Vancouver)
  • Only relevant and cited sources
  1. Tables and Figures
  • Limited as per manuscript type
  • High-resolution images (minimum 300 dpi)
  • Proper titles and legends required

REPORTING GUIDELINES

Authors are encouraged to follow standard reporting guidelines where applicable:

 PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All submissions undergo a double-blind peer review process:

  1. Initial editorial screening
  2. Review by subject experts
  3. Final decision based on reviewer recommendations

Possible Decisions:

  • Accept
  • Minor Revision
  • Major Revision
  • Reject

SUBMISSION PROCESS

Manuscripts should be submitted via email to: principal@conup.org.in

An online submission system (OJS) will be implemented in the future to facilitate submission and tracking.

ARTICLE PROCESSING CHARGES (APC)

  • No Article Processing Charges (APC) are applicable until April 2027
  • Publication is currently free of cost

Future Policy

APC may be introduced after April 2027. Details will be updated on the journal website.

COPYRIGHT POLICY

  • Authors retain copyright of their work
  • The journal holds the right to publish and distribute the article
  • All articles are published under an open-access license

PLAGIARISM POLICY

  • All manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection tools
  • Acceptable similarity index: ≤10%
  • Higher similarity may result in rejection or request for revision

PROOF AND PUBLICATION

  • Authors will receive proofs before publication
  • Only minor corrections are allowed at this stage
  • Major changes are not permitted after acceptance
