The College of Nursing, Kanpur is a pioneer Government institution for nursing education in Uttar Pradesh, established in 1972 under Government Order No. 201 / Medical–4–2119/69 dated 22-03-1972. The institution functions under the Director General of Medical Education / Ministry of Medical Education and is academically affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (up to 2020) and Atal Bihari Vajpayee Medical University (since 2021). It is also recognized by the U.P. State Medical Faculty and the Indian Nursing Council.
The primary objective of the College is to provide and promote quality education and research in the field of nursing. Established to fulfill the growing healthcare needs of the state by producing trained and professional nurses, the College is presently functioning independently within the campus of GSVM Medical College.
The College of Nursing is dedicated to becoming a leading learning institution in nursing sciences that nurtures professionals with strong ethical values, clinical competence, and compassionate patient care skills. The institution aims to prepare nursing professionals capable of delivering healthcare services of accepted standards of excellence in both hospital and community settings, while functioning effectively within the social and cultural context of society.
