Short History

The College of Nursing, Kanpur is a pioneer institute for nursing education in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is controlled financially by Ministry of Medical Education and academically affiliated to CSJM University, Kanpur. The primary objective of the College is to provide and promote education and research in the field of nursing.

The College of Nursing, Kanpur was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh order no. 201 / Medical – 4 – 2119 / 69 dated 22 – 3 – 1972. The College of Nursing was established to provide a large number of trained and professional nurses in order to fulfill the health needs of the huge population of the state. Presently the college is running independently in the campus of GSVM Medical College, Kanpur.

College of Nursing is dedicated to be a learning Institute in nursing sciences that produces professionals with strong ethical values who are capable of providing compassionate patient care of accepted standards of excellence, in both the community and hospital settings and able to function within the social and cultural context of the community. The main purpose College of Nursing is to equip the medical field with qualified Graduate and Post Graduate nursing professionals.
